Day 1: Imaging and Teledermatology in Skin Cancer

The event will commence with an opening ceremony, setting a vibrant tone for an afternoon of insightful presentations and interactive sessions. The first presentation will be delivered by Norbert Kiss, MD, PhD, who will discuss the latest FDA and EMA-authorized techniques for imaging basal cell carcinoma, with a focus on innovative methods for accurate tumor margin mapping.

Following this, Mehdi Boostani, MD, will take the stage for a series of presentations, starting with a novel imaging approach to the preoperative evaluation of basal cell carcinoma. He will continue by introducing the use of optically-guided high-frequency ultrasound as a new technique to categorize basal cell carcinomas, and conclude with insights from a prospective study on employing this method to map tumor margins.

After a brief break, Norbert Kiss, MD, PhD, will return to delve into the novel applications of high-frequency ultrasound in cutaneous imaging, highlighting the latest advancements and their practical implications in dermatology. This will be followed by a session led by Gergely Csány, PhD, and Miklós Gyöngy, PhD, who will discuss the current results and future perspectives on the application of dermoscopy-guided high-frequency ultrasound.

The program will then pause for a short intermission, after which András Bánvölgyi, MD, PhD, will introduce an innovative method for oncological screening using teledermatology in daily care, emphasizing its transformative impact on patient management. Next, Gergely Csány, PhD, will conduct an interactive imaging workshop, providing participants with a unique opportunity for hands-on experience with the Dermus SkinScanner-U device. The day's presentations will end with Szabolcs Bozsányi, MD, PhD, who will explore the promising role of non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma (NTAPP) as a novel treatment modality in dermatology, underscoring its potential applications and therapeutic benefits.

The event will conclude with a social program, offering a perfect setting for networking, discussions, and reflection on the day's learnings, culminating in a group dinner.

Day 2: Innovations in Dermatology and Skin Cancer Prevention: Exploring Tradition, Cutting-Edge Research, and Emerging Technologies

The day begins with an opportunity to explore the historic campus of Semmelweis University, guided through its rich tradition and innovation in medical science.

At 12:00, the day's sessions will kick off with a brief recap of Day 1, highlighting key insights and takeaways.

The first presentation by Kende Lőrincz, MD, PhD, will compare the effects of vitamin D supplementation versus phototherapy and sunbed use, examining their benefits and potential risks. This will be followed by a session from Marta Lange on the use of post-operative multispectral imaging to assess melanoma scars and detect early signs of tumor recurrence. Next, Inga Saknīte, PhD, will present her research on using reflectance confocal videomicroscopy to study leukocyte-endothelial interactions in cutaneous microvessels and predict outcomes after hematopoietic cell transplantation.

After a short break, Gyorgy Paragh, MD, PhD, will discuss early clonal carcinogenesis as a target for improved skin cancer prevention. Wei Lei, PhD, will then explore the development of novel cancer prevention strategies through ultradeep sequencing technologies.

Following another break, Lili Gulyás, MD, will present her findings on the predictive value of serum biomarkers in cutaneous malignant melanoma, providing insights into their potential role in early diagnosis and treatment planning. The day will conclude with a presentation by Katalin Martyin, MD, who will showcase innovative approaches to teledermatology, focusing on its evolving role in patient care and management.

Day 3: Advancing Oncology Research: From Pre-Clinical Models to Machine Learning in Cancer Prediction

The final day will open with a brief recap of Day 2, highlighting key discussions and findings.

Michael Moser, PhD, will begin the presentations by discussing the regulatory oversight of pre-clinical models, focusing on the current standards and challenges in their application for research. Following this, Barbara Foster, PhD, will present on the role of models in oncology research, particularly in improving our understanding of early carcinogenesis.

Sydney Grant, PhD, will then explore the use of mutation hotspots in cancer as critical features for machine-learning-based predictions of cancer risk, highlighting how artificial intelligence is reshaping the field of oncology research.

After a short break, the session will continue with Wendy Huss, PhD, who will discuss the detection of clonal mutation burden in carcinogen-exposed urothelium, providing insights into the cellular impacts of carcinogen exposure. This will be followed by a presentation from Szabolcs Bozsányi, MD, PhD, examining the limitations of erythema as a measure of UV response in SKH1 mice, challenging current methodologies in pre-clinical dermatology research.

The day will proceed with a collaborative discussion on upcoming research projects, fostering partnerships and planning for future studies.
